About Our Clans unite: Cameron/Coull
Most of my folks came from around the North East of Scotland. Mainly from the
following villages, Cruden, Crimond, Rathen, Inverallochy, Cairnbulg. Also
from a few larger centres, Aberdeen, Peterhead and Fraserburgh. The Camerons
seemed to be centred mainly around Alford, Cluny, Kemnay and Kintore, all
within sight of Benachie. My father's folk were mainly blacksmiths, quarriers
with a little fisher folk from Cruden Bay. My mother's folk seemed to have
been shoemakers, tailors, wheelwrights and again a few fisherfolk.
My wife Janey Cameron nee Coull came from the 'Sloch' Portessie in Banff all
her folk were fisher from around the Buckie area (which makes it dam'ty hard
to work out who is who). I need to know all the 'Tee' names like William
Smith 'Fling' and William Smith 'Jeem', Wonderful Bill (The name of his boat)
or somebody 'up the brae' or 'roon the rock'. All very colourful but hard
going, to find.
